Typically, there is an AllTalk Server at each Service Provider. A Doctor Practice may host an AllTalk Server so that it can directly receive messages.

AllTalk Server actions include :

• Receiving and validating incoming connections
  
  
• Responding to requests for messages from clients
  
  
• Responding to encryption queries by returning Certificates
  
  
• Accepting messages from clients
  
  
• Generating tracking messages and delivering these to Clients or other Servers
  
  
• Handling ACI files and other management objects
