DIRECT PATHOLOGY ORDER ENTRY FROM REMOTE SITES

OrderIT allows on-line ordering of all Pathology / Radiology tests. The user may be provided with collection instructions including automatic printing of labels for phlobotomy samples.

DATA STRUCTURE

  • Orders for Pathology tests are maintained in a discreet database.
  • Each "Order" is equivalent to a REQUEST
  • An "Order" is converted to a Request on receipt of the specimens in the Laboratory. The order is automatically transferred from the Order database to the regular Request database at this time.

DATA COLLECTION

  • Orders may originate from any device connected to the system
  • Terminals in the Doctor's surgery, or ward terminals, are the initial devices
  • Several data flow patterns are catered for by the OrderIT system :

    (a) Doctor Order at Practice (or Ward) and :

    • Specimen collection list issued at laboratory level
    • As specimens are received at the Laboratory, Order is automatically converted to Request
    • Labels issued as specimens received

    (b) Doctor Order at Practice (or Ward) and :

    • Specimen collection labels produced at Practice for immediate collection
    • Request Form printed at Practice/Ward to accompany specimens

(c) Doctor Order at Practice (or Ward) and :

Laboratory level lists and specimen labels produced for selected specimens. (Combination of (a) and (b)).

  • The Practice / Ward is assigned from the Initial logon
  • "Doctor" is equivalent to the user name
  • "Patient ID or UR" is entered from barcode or other recognition items (drop down indexes are available)
  • "Request Date & Time" = data entry date and time
  • Requests "Tests" are entered (drop down indexes are available)

Optional data includes :
